Notice how this title doesn’t’ read ’10 ways to create a safe space’?
There is no check list or official approach to creating safety in a group setting because there is no possible way to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
‘Facet’ implies there are angles we can take, different ways of looking at it, multiple needs and experiences involved, a diverse collection of truths simultaneously existing, no hierarchy of ‘this approach is best’.
So here are a few facets that may resonate, none more important than the other, but all equally required in creating a whole. (With As-Safe-As-Possible being the whole.) For the most part these facets will feel like they should be implied, or go without saying, as they are considered basic humanity and goodness, but speaking to them for clarity and purpose is what brings them into a trauma informed sensitivity…
